What's "Following" You?

Text: Psalm 23:6
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”
Our journey through this comforting Psalm has reminded us of our Good Shepherd’s provision.
- He provides rest, both physically and spiritually. (2)
- He provides spiritual food (2)
- He provides satisfaction (2)
- He provides restoration (3)
- He provides strength and guidance (3-5)
As David wraps up this short Psalm, he reflects on a wonderful truth about our Good Shepherd.
Everyone today seems to be chasing after goodness, mercy, love, and coming up empty. This last verse informs us that our Good Shepherd’s goodness and mercy chases us!
The word “follow” means to run after, to chase.
God’s goodness and mercy chase after us like a shepherd’s sheepdogs directing us on a path that leads us to these provisions.
Through all the changes and situations in life, God’s goodness and mercy are there.
As sheep in God’s fold, we have all that we need to flourish here, and when our time on earth is finished, our future is secure in the presence of our Good Shepherd forever.
