David's Defining Statement

Walk up to nearly anyone on the street and they will have at some point in their life heard of Psalm 23.

At nearly every funeral that I have either conducted or attended at some point in the service Psalm 23 was read.

I have also read this psalm at the bedside of family members whose loved ones have passed away.

This Psalm for years has been a cherished and often quoted psalm. 

What I find ironic is that although most people know this psalm…they fail to see the true meaning of it.

What we seek in life is answered in these verses and yet we are blind to it. 

How can we find rest in a busy life?

How can I recover from sinful choices?

How do I know what to do?

Does God care?

How do I get through this trial or valley?

All of these questions and more are answered for us in this Psalm that we will be studying for the next few weeks.

I want to begin by looking at David’s Defining Statement that lays the foundation for this Psalm and I believe for David’s life.
